No win streak for Fords after defeat at McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Following a weekend victory the Haverford College men's basketball team hoped to add another notch to the left-side column but fell to host McDaniel College by a 69-44 score Tuesday night in Centennial Conference action.

Midway through the first half the Fords (4-8, 2-4 CC) only trailed by a 13-9 count. The Green Terror (7-5, 3-2) closed out the final 10 minutes, though, with a 20-7 run that left Haverford trailing 33-16 at the break.

The Fords shot 50 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes but a chilly 30 percent opening half -- along with a 12-for-20 (60 percent) frame put up by the hosts -- left the visiting Scarlet and Black with too large of a hill to climb.

Cam Baker scored 12 points to lead the Haverford offense while Bo Friddell added eight points and a team-high four rebounds. McDaniels' Louis Sarris-Grau led a trio of Green Terror scorers that reached double-digits, posting up a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Haverford held the remainder of the McDaniel line-up to just 22 points.

Neither team made the most out of ball security, each registering 21 turnovers in the match-up, but the Green Terror finished with a 28-18 edge in rebounding.

Haverford will try to get back into the win column in its next game, a rare weekday afternoon conference contest starting at 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon against the visiting Blue Jays from Johns Hopkins University.
