Haverford, Pa. – The Haverford College men's basketball team picked up their first Centennial Conference win of the year in an 88-76 victory over Washington College in their final November game. Ford junior Cam Baker led all scorers with 20 points and added eight boards.

The win improves Haverford to 2-4, 1-1 CC and it slapped the Shoremen with their second conference loss at 2-3, 0-2 CC.  Washington was led by Mark DeBoy's 16 points, including four three-pointers.

Action started off with an 8-0 run by the Shoremen in the opening minutes as the visitors pulled ahead 12-4.  A trey by Haverford senior Ian Goldberg tied the game at 18 each in the eighth minute. Goldberg tallied 19 points and five assists on the night. At 6:27, Baker put the Fords up on a breakaway layup, but it was short-lived as Washington knocked down a three to stay up. The game teetered back and forth before another Baker lay-in tied the game up at 30-30 with less than two minutes to play in the first half. Ford senior Bo Friddell clanked home two at the charity stripe to put the Fords up 34-33 at the break. Friddell finished the evening with 13 points.

Haverford began the second half on an 11-1 tear, eventually shooting 63 percent from field goal range for the game.

Ford rookie Geoff Hartmann banked a three-ball in at 11:32 and Baker converted a fast-break layup to give Haverford a 54-41 lead. Hartmann ended up with 11 points. The home squad would lead by as many as 17 (twice), their largest lead of the contest.

The Fords seemed to stay one step ahead of the Shoremen as the clock ticked down and two Washington players fouled out.  Washington's Charlie McShane knocked down two free-throws to get the Shoremen within seven (83-76) with 1:23 remaining, but that would be as close as Haverford would let the visitors get- holding on for an 88-76 win at Gooding Arena.

Also of note, Haverford sophomore Brett Cohen (19 points, 13 boards) rounded out a balanced offensive effort for the Fords.

Another conference battle awaits Haverford next as the squad travels to Gettysburg College on Saturday (Dec. 3) for a 2 p.m. contest.
