CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Haverford College's men's basketball team rallied from a 13-point second-half deficit in a 72-67 Centennial Conference victory Thursday night over Washington College, out scoring the host Shoremen 29-11 over the final 13 minutes and 15 seconds to erase the double-digit deficit and claim a hard-fought road victory in the Cain Athletic Center.

Haverford (2-3, 1-1 CC) led much of the first half but Washington (0-4, 0-2) rallied to carry a 38-33 lead into the intermission. The Shoremen's lead grew to 13 in the second half with the score at 56-43 but a Cam Baker jumper and converted foul shot on the back end ignited Haverford's rally. 

Whatever the problems were late in the first half and early in the second disappeared over the final 13 minutes as the Fords played solidly from baseline to baseline. The 29-point outburst included 11 points from Baker, eight from Lucas Colombo and seven from Brett Cohen. One particular stretch within the rally saw the Fords hit 12 consecutive free throws with Baker knocking down seven in a row.

The defense pressured Washington harshly and came up with six steals, three by Cohen, to stall the Shoremen's attempts at halting the Haverford run.

Baker finished with a game-high 26 points with Colombo and Cohen also scoring in double-figures with 17 and 13 points, respectively. Cohen led all players on the glass pulling down nine rebounds to miss out on consecutive double-doubles by one board. Stephen Poarch led Washington with 21 points, getting offensive help from Kevin Cunningham's 18 points.

Much of Haverford's scoring on the night came from in close to the basket as the Fords generated 40 points from within the paint. The Fords also owned the edge in second-chance points registering 10 on the night while limiting Washington to just two.

The next outing for Haverford comes Saturday at home in Gooding Arena where conference foe Gettysburg College visits for a 3 p.m. league game.
