HAVERFORD, Pa. – A second-half run rallied Haverford College from 10 down but visiting McDaniel College was able to answer and pull away for the win over the final minutes Thursday night in a 61-54 Centennial Conference defeat of the Fords in men's basketball action at Gooding Arena.

Haverford (5-7, 3-4 CC) fought back from a 41-31 deficit with 12:39 to play, grabbing a 50-49 lead over McDaniel (9-5, 3-4) behind the scoring of Brett Cohen and Cam Baker.

The duo combined to score all of the Fords' points in that second-half 19-8 run which gave Haverford its first lead since the 10:33 mark of the opening half. Baker kicked off the stretch with a layup and netted seven of the 19 points with Cohen registering the other 12, all from in the paint including a short jumper at the 4:46 mark for the lead off a rebound from an Eli Schwarz jumper.

McDaniel halted the rally by posting a 9-0 run of its own to wrest back the lead and forge an eight-point advantage with 49 seconds remaining. Over the remaining seconds the Green Terror hit 3-of-6 tries from the foul line while Haverford added only a pair of Baker layups.

Cohen finished wih a game-high 20 points and rounded out his night with a double-double as the junior forward pulled down a game-best 10 rebounds. Baker's 17 added to the Fords' efforts in the offensive end. McDaniel was paced by Andrew Merlo's 17 points with Phillip Perry chiming in with 14.

The Fords forced 11 Green Terror turnovers but netted only eight points in return. They also poured in 38 of their points from in close within the paint. However, McDaniel won the war on the glass with a 46-35 edge in rebounds, and it scored 14 second-chance points.

Haverford heads to Johns Hopkins University (8-6, 4-3 CC) for its next contest, another Centennial tilt, tipping off at 3 p.m. in Baltimore following the Fords and Blue Jays' women's game.
