Joe Scibelli Named Centennial Player of the Week

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Joe Scibelli has been named the Centennial Conference men's basketball player of the week after back-to-back 27 point outings for the Fords against Muhlenberg. The honor is the first of the reigning Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year's career.

Scibelli started his week with a 27 points and 11 rebounds during Haverford's narrow 65-58 defeat at the hands of Muhlenberg. His double-double was his fifth of the season. He also swatted away three shot attempts from the Mules during the midweek contest.

The sophomore helped lift the Fords to their first Centennial Conference victory of the season with 27 points and eight rebounds against Washington College. In that contest, he shot 10-of-18 from the field as the team shot over 57 percent from the game. He put his stamp on that victory by scoring nine of Haverford's final 10 points in the come-from-behind win. He also stole the ball off of the inbounds play to deny Washington College's final scoring chance in the eventual 91-87 win.

Scibelli is currently leading the Centennial Conference in both points (22.1) and rebounds (10.4) per game. He also ranks second in the conference with 15 blocked shots and is averaging 33.1 minutes per game. He scored at least 14 points in each game this season with 20 or more points in seven of the Fords' nine games.

Men's basketball completed its 2016 portion of the schedule with the win over Washington College on Saturday. The Fords will start off the New Year at home on Wednesday, January 4 against Sarah Lawrence at 6 p.m.
