HAVERFORD, Pa. – A red-hot Gettysburg offense proved too much for the Haverford College men's basketball team on Tuesday evening inside the Gooding '84 Arena. The Bullets shot over 62 percent in the opening half, and just shy of 59 percent for the game, during an 87-58 win against the Fords.

Matt Sherman led Haverford with 13 points on the evening, while Grayson Roth added 10 more points to Haverford's total. Sam Stogdon and Kyle Goldfarb just missed double figures with eight points each. Gettysburg put four of its starters in double figures as Mlynue Reeves went 10-of-11 from the field to finish with 20 points. Nick Lord did his damage from distance as his five three-pointers helped him finish with 19 points on the evening.

Haverford was able to contain Gettysburg's offense during the opening 10 minutes of the game, limiting the Bullets to just a pair of three-pointers from Lord during a stretch of six minutes. That defensive effort helped the Fords bring the game within a single point, 14-13, after an old fashioned three-point play from Jonathan Lang and a make from beyond the arc by Grayson Roth.

Nevertheless, Lord's three-pointers were a sign of things to come as Gettysburg hit six three-pointers in the opening half. The Bullets displayed their prowess from distance all night long, shooting 52 percent from behind the arc and pouring in nearly half of the team's scoring output from three-point land. Haverford did limit some of Gettysburg's chances in the game by forcing the Bullets into 18 turnovers. Three different Fords (Stogdon, Goldfarb, and Lang) each came away with two swipes on the defensive end.

Men's basketball will not have to wait long to get back on the court as tonight's contest was the first of three games this week. Haverford will travel to McDaniel on Thursday for an 8 p.m. tip before returning home on Saturday for a 3 p.m. start with Johns Hopkins. Both of those games will be played as doubleheaders with the women playing before both contests.
