Men's Basketball Puts on Terrific Showing for Alumni

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's basketball program gave its alumni a treat on Saturday when the Fords beat Dickinson for the first time since the 2013 season. In addition to a strong result, Saturday was also a special day for the program as the Fords welcomed back their alumni to take part in a pick-up game before watching the current varsity later that afternoon.

Alumni from the program who returned to Haverford for the Alumni Day festivities included Chuck Durante '73, George Shotzbarger '73, Seth Eilberg '96, Ryan Hoffman '97, Kevin Gregory '01, Brent Anderson '09, Sam Permutt '11, Eli Schwarz '13, Louis Cipriano '14, Brett Cohen '14, Luke Colombo '15, James Levine '15, Anthony Reyes '16, Justin Winkler '16, Matt Sherman '17, Jeremy Evans '18, and Josh Fried '18, along with former head coach Mike Mucci.

Saturday also gave the Fords a chance to present the second recipient all-time of the Mike Mucci Award. Former head coach Mike Mucci won 185 games during his time as head coach of the Fords. He started coaching the team during the 1995-96 season up until his retirement at the end of the 2016-17 campaign. He retired as the all-time winningest coach in program history.

Senior Kyle Goldfarb was announced as the newest recipient of the Mike Mucci Award. This award is given to an upperclass member of the team who consistently displays high character, sportsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to the values of the program, athletic department, and broader Haverford community. Goldfarb has been a starter during each of his four years with the Fords, making 87 career appearances and ranking just outside of the program's top 20 in career assists.

With two weeks remaining in the regular season, and the Fords sitting just two games out of the final playoff spot, Haverford will jump back into conference play this Wednesday as the team travels to Muhlenberg for a 7:30 p.m. tip in Allentown.
