Centennial Conference release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Joe Scibelli was named a first-team All-Centennial Conference performer following a standout senior season for the Haverford College men's basketball team. Scibelli is the fifth player in program history to be a first-team All-CC pick since the Fords joined the Centennial Conference prior to the 1993-94 academic year.

The only player to start all 25 games for Haverford this season, Scibelli became the first Centennial Conference player since the 2011-12 season to average a double-double as he finished the season with 17.2 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Both of those marks were the highest in the Centennial Conference. During conference play, Scibelli's 16.7 points and 8.9 rebounds per game were also the highest marks among his Centennial peers. He also ranked third in the conference in free throw percentage (85.9%) and fifth in blocked shots (31).

Scibelli led the Fords in points and rebounding 15 times. During 11 of those contests, he led Haverford in both categories during the same game. He finished with double-figure scoring totals 23 times and eclipsed the 20 point mark on 11 different occasions. His high for the season came when he scored 29 points during the season-opening win at Rutgers-Camden. Scibelli also grabbed at least 10 rebounds during 15 different games and finished the year 14 double-doubles to lead the Centennial Conference. His 32 career double-doubles are also the most among active Centennial Conference players.

Scibelli's biggest night on the boards came when he grabbed 20 rebounds in addition to scoring 26 points during a monster double-double against Bryn Athyn, also adding a perfect 12-for-12 performance from the free throw line for good measure. The senior's big games against Rutgers-Camden and Bryn Athyn helped him land Centennial Conference Player of the Week honors twice this season, in addition to the one occasion he won the weekly honor during his sophomore campaign.

Scoring his 1,000th career point at Washington College, Scibelli capped his career as the eighth leading scorer in program history with 1,291 career points. He also ranks fourth all-time in blocked shots (93), sixth in rebounds (739), ninth in three-point field goal percentage (35.5%), and 10th in minutes per game (28.3). Scibelli's 430 points scored this season is the ninth-highest single-season mark in school history and was the highest for Haverford player since the 2004-05 season. His stats from his senior season also rank him sixth for rebounds, seventh for field goals made, and eighth for blocked shots in Haverford's single-season record books.

With his first-team All-Centennial Conference announcement, Scibelli is the first Haverford player to garner first-team All-CC recognition since Ian Goldberg '12 did so during his senior season. Jamal Elliott '96, and Mark Gabriel '05 were also first-team honorees during their senior seasons while Chris Guiton '96 garnered first-team accolades during his junior year. In addition to this year's honor, Scibelli became the first player in program history to be named the Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year following the 2015-16 season and will be named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for the third time in as many eligible seasons later this year.

Scibelli and the rest of the Fords led the men's basketball program to its highest overall and road win totals since the 2010-11 season as Haverford also posted its most Centennial Conference victories since the 2011-12 campaign. Among the Fords' notable wins was the team's first win over Dickinson since the 2012-13 season, a home win to make it five straight victories against Washington College inside Gooding Arena, the team's first road win and season sweep of Gettysburg in school history, and the first sweep of McDaniel in back-to-back seasons since the 2005-06 and 2006-07 campaigns.

Adding to Haverford's postseason award recipients was fellow senior Kyle Goldfarb being named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team. Goldfarb was one of five Haverford players to appear in all 25 games, making 10 starts. He led the Fords in three-point shooting percentage (47.1%), ranked fifth in both three-pointers made (16) and minutes per game (20.9), while tying for fourth in assists (37). He averaged 4.4 points per game as a senior and finished in double figures three times, including a season-high 15 points in the win at McDaniel. Goldfarb was also the program's second-ever recipient of the Mike Mucci Award announced earlier in the season.
