Turkson Earns Second CC Player of the Week Honor

Centennial Conference release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Jesse Turkson has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season after averaging 16.3 points and 12.7 rebounds during a 2-1 week for the Fords. Haverford's results included a 72-51 win over Washington College and 94-65 victory over Gettysburg as the Fords moved to 6-0 in the Centennial Conference ahead of Wednesday evening's first-place battle with No. 1 Swarthmore.

Securing a double-double during each of Haverford's three games, he started the week with an 11 point, 14 rebound effort against Immaculata in non-conference action. Turkson continued to excel in Centennial Conference action as he scored 24 points and pulled down 14 rebounds in the matchup with Washington College. He followed that up with 14 points and 10 rebounds against Gettysburg. His outing against the Bullets included a pair of three-pointers as the Fords tied the program record with 15 treys in that contest. Turkson finished his week shooting 56.8% from the field.

Following suit with the rest of the team, Turkson has certainly been at his best in Centennial Conference action as the junior is averaging 19.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in conference action as both of those marks lead the CC. Turkson also leads the conference with 47 field goals made in CC matchups. Doing a little bit of everything for his team, Turkson is also fourth in the conference in total blocks (14), sixth in field goal percentage (54.7%), and ninth in steals (19).

Men's basketball will be on the road this week for two more Centennial Conference matchups. The Fords will battle an undefeated Swarthmore team this Wednesday at 8 p.m. in a battle for first place in the conference as the Garnet come into the matchup ranked No. 1 in the country. Haverford will also be in action this Saturday as the Fords head to McDaniel for a 2 p.m. tip in Westminster.
