FORDS FLASHBACK: Gibby Graves '15 Denies Swarthmore on Senior Day

In lieu of varsity athletic contests while the College engages in distance learning, Haverford Athletics has dug into the archives. Our "Fords Flashback" will be profiling instant classic games from recent history.

February 21, 2015

Recap | Box Score

For all but one second of his Senior Day against Swarthmore, Gibby Graves '15 made his presence on the court felt more with his skillful passing as opposed to his ability to drive the lane. Although Graves showed the ability to do both throughout the season, he had dished out 10 dimes that night while Matt Sherman '17 shouldered the scoring load with 29 points, including a three-pointer during the final minute of the game to give the Fords the lead. Nevertheless, it was Graves who stole the headline on Senior Day as the Garnet tied the game at the free throw line before his runner went down with just a second to go. It was in many ways the perfect ending for Graves and his senior classmates to go out in their final game as Haverford players. That class graduated having beaten Swarthmore in three out of four years on their home court.
