BALTIMORE, Md. - The Haverford College men's basketball team (3-9, 1-4 CC) fell to No. 15 Johns Hopkins (10-2, 4-1 CC) on Saturday afternoon at Goldfarb Gymnasium, with the host Blue Jays coming away with a 75-45 victory in Centennial Conference action.

Charlie Mamlin connected on a pair of second-half triples as part of his team-best eight points as 10 different players scored for the Fords. Nate Torres added a game-best five assists, the only player on either side to record more than two helpers.

Haverford got on the scoreboard first, with Johnson drilling a jumper out of the gates. The Blue Jays were unfazed, sprinting out on a 14-2 run before Ryan Trotter stopped things with a layup. Ultimately, the hot start for JHU continued as Brian Johansson connected from long-range for a 19-6 advantage with 8:35 remaining in the first half. Charlie Mamlin cut the lead to 12 with a layup to answer, but back-to-back jumpers from Jayden Nixon and Carson James put the hosts up 27-8, in command with 4:35 remaining in the first stanza.

Josh Love and Jackson Ryan added triples down the stretch as Haverford cut things to 31-16, but the hosts still took a sizable 35-17 cushion into intermission.

The fight was far from over for the Fords, as the second half saw Dhruv Mehrotra give Haverford a quick four-point spurt, trimming the lead to 44-25. Haverford called for timeout after Mamlin brought the Fords within 17, knocking down a three-pointer at 49-32 with 11:12 remaining in regulation. Mamlin continued to be a spark plug, connecting from distance again with 9:27 left, but a 7-0 run put the Blue Jays back up by 26 with 6:12 remaining, effectively dashing Haverford's comeback hopes.

James notched 20 points to lead the Blue Jays, while Tom Quarry (15 points) and Nixon (11) also reached double-figure scoring.

The hosts shot 40 percent from the field while holding Haverford to just a 26.7 percent clip. A big advantage for the hosts also came at the free-throw line, where the Blue Jays took 38 attempts, notching 23. Johns Hopkins held a 50-43 advantage in rebounds, and turned the ball over just seven times. The Blue Jays poured in 18 points off turnovers.

Haverford now returns to action on Tuesday, January 10 taking on the Green Terror of McDaniel at home inside Gooding '84 Arena. The contest is slated to begin at approximately 7 p.m. as it will follow the women's squads from both teams doing battle at 5 p.m. as CC play rolls on.
