Full Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College men's basketball senior forward Nate Torres has been named an All-Centennial Conference honorable mention, the Centennial Conference announced in the annual postseason awards release on Tuesday afternoon.

Torres, of Bloomington, Illinois, was Haveford's leading scorer this season, averaging 11.7 points per game and was also the program's leading rebounder, pulling down 4.8 per contest as Haverford had four players average four or more rebounds per game this year. Torres grabbed 81 assists, good for fifth among Centennial competitors, and was also fifth in free-throw percentage (78.0). He added 25 steals and six blocks to his 2022-23 ledger. The chemistry major scored in double figures in 15 contests, and added 24 points against No. 9 Johns Hopkins on February 4. The senior is Haverford's first All-Conference team selection since Jesse Turkson was named to the first team during the 2019-20 campaign.

In addition to Torres' honor, senior Jackson Ryan (Darien, Conn.) was named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team. Ryan appeared in 62 career games for the Fords, including 52 starts over his four seasons. He scored 496 points, pulled down 197 rebounds, dished out 107 assists, and came up with 39 steals over that time.

Swarthmore's Vinny DeAngelo was named Centennial Conference Player of the Year while Johns Hopkins' Sidney Thybulle repeated as Defensive Player of the Year. Ursinus' Nick Nocito earned Rookie of the Year and the Johns Hopkins coaching staff claimed the Coaching Staff of the Year honor.

Haverford narrowly missed a berth in the Centennial Conference postseason, as the Fords went into the final day of the regular season with a chance at extending the campaign past the regular season finale. The Fords earned nine total wins in 2022-23, with seven conference triumphs.
