HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College men's basketball sophomore guard Gaven Marr (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) earned his second career Centennial Conference Player of the Week award on Tuesday following an exceptional performance during the Fords' strong start to the 2024-25 season.
Marr was a key contributor in Haverford's 2-0 week, highlighted by a 95-point effort on Wednesday and a 100-point outing on Saturday. The sophomore averaged 22.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game, showcasing efficiency by shooting 52 percent from the field (16-for-31), 47 percent from three-point range (8-for-17), and a flawless 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.
In a commanding 95-65 victory over Rosemont, Marr led all scorers with 18 points, including three three-pointers. He also posted a game-high eight rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block.
Marr followed up with a stellar performance in a 100-87 win over Lycoming, pouring in a season-high 27 points on 10-of-18 shooting, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. He added two rebounds, one assist, and three steals, helping the Fords reach the 100-point milestone for the first time in nearly a decade.
Through three games, Haverford boasts the 33rd-ranked scoring offense in Division III, averaging 89.3 points per game.
Marr and the Fords are back in action at home this week. They host Immaculata tonight at 7 p.m., followed by a matchup with Lancaster Bible on Saturday at 3 p.m. as part of a doubleheader. The women's team will tip off the day against Rosemont at 1 p.m. inside Gooding '84 Arena.
