Centennial Conference Announces 2022 Men's Lacrosse Preseason Poll

Full Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's lacrosse team has been slotted to finish eighth in the Centennial Conference preseason poll, the conference office announced on Wednesday morning. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.

F&M was picked to win the conference, after securing its second ever Centennial Conference men's lacrosse title in 2021 with a perfect 6-0 record in the regular season. Gettysburg (52 voting points), Muhlenberg (47) and Ursinus (46) were also projected playoff teams by vote of the conference coaches. Swarthmore was tabbed sixth (23 points), with Washington College (22) edging Haverford (20). Rounding out the poll was the squad from McDaniel (nine points).

F&M (#8) and Gettysburg (#17) are ranked in the USILA Preseason Top 20 Poll, while Ursinus, Dickinson, and Muhlenberg are three of 22 teams receiving votes in that ranking.

In Haverford's last full season in 2019, the Fords defeated a pair of top 10 teams in then-No. 10 Dickinson and then-No. 10 Ursinus. Both of those victories came by identical 12-9 scores and accounted for two of Haverford's three conference wins in the always-challenging Centennial Conference. That conference record tied the Fords for sixth overall in the 2019 standings.

The 2022 season begins with a trip up the Main Line to No. 7 Cabrini on Saturday to do battle with a Cavaliers side that has won 20 consecutive conference championships, a stretch that includes the 2019 national championship. Haverford hosts the home opener in a midweek matchup with Stevens (Feb. 23), welcoming the Ducks to campus for the first time since a 2019 meeting on Swan Field.
