GETTYSBURG, Pa.. - The Haverford College men's lacrosse team (4-4, 0-1 CC) opened Centennial Conference play with a tough matchup at No. 14 Gettysburg (6-3, 1-0 CC) on Saturday afternoon, falling by a 12-2 final at Shirk Field. The Bullets shut out the Fords in the first half, using that early momentum to get them across the finish line.

Gettysburg scored three goals in the first quarter with tallies coming from Kyle Howard, Spencer Knife, and Griffin Gallagher before the eleven-minute mark of the contest. The Fords  locked things down on the defensive end for the remainder of the quarter and well into the second quarter. Jacob Abraham put forth a solid effort between the sticks. The first-year finished with 16 saves for the game while facing 28 shots from the Bullets.

Abraham's performance in goal wasn't enough for the Fords. Haverford struggled to run their offense and get genuine attempts on the Gettysburg net. As a result, their possessions didn't lead to goals despite winning the faceoff battle 10-7.

Picking up action in the third quarter with the Fords facing a 7-0 deficit, Jonathan Moon finally put Haverford on the board with the assist going to Matt Richards as there was only a minute left in the quarter. The Fords scored again following a Gettysburg response with 22 seconds left on the clock. Eric Dahlberg found a cutting Devin Lefkowitz, who was able to sneak a shot past the Gettysburg goalie.

The Bullets used four unanswered goals in the final quarter to finish with double-digit goals in their sixth straight game. Sean Mowatt-Larssen led the Fords in shot attempts with six while Dahlberg and both finished with five ground balls. Teddy Carlin won nine of his 15 faceoffs. The sophomore has won 55 percent of his faceoffs this year (90-163).

Haverford will look ahead towards their home contest against No. 8 Dickinson on Saturday, April 2. The game is scheduled for 3 p.m. and is part of a home doubleheader with the women's team playing Dickinson at 12 p.m.
