Squash men down Dragons for weekend sweep of Drexel

PHILADELPHIA – The Haverford College men's squash team defeated host Drexel University by a 6-3 score Saturday afternoon to give the Fords a weekend sweep of the Dragons.

Friday night the women's squash team captured a 7-2 victory over Drexel on its home courts.

Four of Haverford's six wins Saturday were by 3-0 scores, one was by  a still-commanding 3-1 count, and the final win was a 3-2 come-back victory.

Zef Konst secured the most dominating win for the Fords taking down Kanu Navain in the No. 3 slot by scores of 11-1, 11-2 and 11-4.

Other 3-0 victories came from Alex Spiliotes at No. 1, Chris Tyson at No. 5 and Robbie Thompson at No. 6.

Andy McComas won his first game, 12-10, then bounced back from a game two loss (11-13) with strong 11-6 and 11-2 victories in the No. 2 slot.

At No. 9, Charlie Michele dropped his first two games but rallied with three successive wins for the victory.

The win over the Dragons moves the Fords (4-3) above the .500 mark for the season as they head into the Thanksgiving holiday break. Upon return, the squad will welcome Johns Hopkins to the GIAC on Dec. 4 and then Lafayette on Dec. 8.
