HAVERFORD, Pa.- The Haverford men's squash team opened up the 2011-12 season with a 9-0 loss to Drexel University Thursday evening in the Gardener Integrated Athletic Center.
The Fords went to 0-1 on the season, while Drexel opened with a 1-0 record.
"It was a tough one to start with, but with five guys abroad our team stepped up and I'm proud of their effort," said second-year head coach Niki Clement.
In the number one spot, Alex Spiliotes battled hard through three sets, his 2, 0, 3 scores not indicating the work involved. At number four, Peter Boal was the lone Ford to pick up a game, going 0, (8), 5 and 3.
"I told the guys, we'll learn more from our losses than we will from our wins," Clement stated.
The Fords match up next on Saturday Oct. 29 with a 1 p.m. home contest against Georgetown.
