Haverford men’s squash faces off against MIT, Boston College

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-The Haverford men's squash team traveled north to face-off against Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Boston College on Nov.12.  The men fell 9-0 in the first contest against MIT and dropped the BC contest 8-1.

In the MIT game, the score didn't indicate the tightness of each Haverford performance.  No.1 Alex Spiliotes lost a very close match in five games, while No.2 Chris Tyson fell in three with two games going to tie-breaks.  No.5 Peter Boal lost a very close fiver gamer as well as Charlie Michele at No.6 who lost four close games (one reaching a tie-break of 17-15).

"The team put up solid efforts all around," said head coach Niki Clement.

In the battle against BC, the Fords were taken 8-1. No. 1 Spiliotes, after an ankle roll in his morning match, had to sit the match out. Therefore, each of the Ford players moved up
one and the men did very well considering.  Michele lost a tight match in five games as the final game was won in a 12-10 tie-break. The Fords picked up a default point at the No.9 position.

Moving forward, Haverford plays next on Nov.20 at Johns Hopkins at 10 a.m.
