Men's squash completes play at Pioneer Valley Invitational

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Haverford College men's squash team finished up play in the Pioneer Valley Invitational Sunday with tough 9-0 losses to 20th-ranked Colby College and 21st-ranked Connecticut College.

Senior Zef Konst, playing at No.3, took game one against Colby's Trey Simpson, 11-8. Konst then went on to drop the next three but not before pushing Simpson to the limit, 12-10, in a game four battle.

Alex Spiliotes at No.1, Andy McComas at No.2, and Charlie Michele at No.6 performed strongly despite dropping 3-0 decisions as the Fords made the Mules (10-10) earn every point.

Earlier in the day Haverford tangled with Connecticut as Konst, at No.3, lost game one but rallied to win game two before the Camels' John Sluder squeaked out victories in games three and  four by the identical scores of 12-10.

The Fords did not go quietly to Connecticut (11-8) as McComas, playing at No.2, and Christopher Tyson, at No.4, each grabbed game one victories before falling in tough four game decisions. Michele once again lost a hard fought battle at No.6.

Haverford hosts its alumni matches this Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Gardner Integrated Athletic Center before returning to competition against Drexel University on Feb.2.
