Men's Squash Season Ends at CSA Team Championships

WINDSOR, Conn. – The Haverford College men's squash team wrapped up the College Squash Association's (CSA) Team Championships with an 8-1 loss to the Northeastern Huskies in the consolation bracket final of the Chaffee Cup.

Junior Alex Egilman notched the only point for the Fords at the No. 7 position, winning in four games (12-10, 9-11, 11-8, 11-8).

Sophomore Aaron Horwitz lost a tough four game match at the No. 2 ladder position. After losing game one 12-10, the sophomore nabbed an 11-9 victory in game two. Northeastern's Daniel Blohm scored close wins in games three (11-8) and four (12-10). Sophomore Chris Hoogstraten won game two of his match (11-9) after falling in game one (12-10), but lost games three and four. Freshman Shilin Jog lost in four games as well with the first three games decided by six total points. Junior Laurenson Ward picked up a win in game one of his match, but was defeated in the last three games.

With the loss, the Fords' season ends with an 11-9 record overall. The team's 11 wins are the most since the 2006-07 season. Junior Nathan Vestrich-Shade and freshman Isabelle Gotuaco of the women's squash team will now take part in the CSA Individual Championships next week (Feb. 27-March 1).
