"How do you get kids excited to play squash? By highlighting what they can become."

Those are the words of Noah Tunis '25, who is leading an initiative to increase squash's online presence and grow the game in the United States. The sophomore teamed up with the College Squash Association to launch "Shot of the Month," a video series campaign that highlights high-level squash play at the collegiate level.

Tunis' love of squash began in junior year of high school when he trained with coach Omar Sobhy, a Five-Time US National Champion and the Director of Sobhy Squash Academy. At Haverford, he competes each winter as a member of the Haverford men's squash team, in addition to working for AR Performance, an online squash coaching company, and doing freelance editing work for another company called SquashSkills.

The Professional Squash Association's Shot on the Month series inspired Tunis, who even spends his free time watching professional squash highlights, to adapt the idea to the collegiate level. "The CSA is an unbelievably talented league, with top players going on to become professionals," he said. "There is a ton of great quality squash being played, and this effort is one way to highlight that, and hopefully grow the CSA, and squash in the US."

By showcasing the best moments in intercollegiate squash matches across the United States in videos like this, Shot of the Month hopes to attract more youth athletes to the sport and encourage the expansion of squash programs to help the country become a strong competitor in international competition amongst powerhouses like Egypt, England, France, and Pakistan.

"In the United States, College squash is a key motivator for junior development, and the new sponsorship programs at the Arlen Specter center in Philly are making life as a professional squash player more attractive and accessible to up-and-coming players," Tunis said. "Hopefully, campaigns like this help the CSA grow its media presence and excite junior players, motivating them to train and be featured one day!"
