Terrier Classic results place several Fords atop Centennial performance lists

BOSTON – Results from Saturday's Boston University Terrier Classic were strong enough for several runners from Haverford College's men's indoor track team to leap to the head of the class on the Centennial Conference's event performance lists.

Jordan Schilit was the fastest Division III performer in the mile Saturday in Boston, finishing 16th with a time of 4 minutes, 7.43 seconds which now tops the conference's mile listing. Schilit isn't alone at the top of the list, however, as teammates Ivo Milic-Strkalj (4:10.78) and Christopher Stadler (4:12.53) are immediately behind in the second- and third-fastest spots after their races at the Terrier Classic.

Schilit's and Stadler's times were career indoor bests as was teammate Jack McNeilly's time of 4:27.30. Milic-Strkalj was 1.74 seconds off his career indoor mark and the Fords' David Colletta was even closer to his indoor best falling just 0.03 seconds off his indoor career mark with a clocking of 4:28.91.

Schilit also assumed the top conference spot in the 800 meter run with Saturday's time of 1:55.04, another indoor best for the senior from Florida. Like with the mile, Schilit has company from fellow Haverford runners at the top of the league's performance list in the 800.

Michael Riccio's time of 1:55.70, just 0.05 off his career indoor mark, trails only Schilit. Gebby Keny (1:57.32) raced to the third-fastest Centennial time Saturday and is followed in fourth by Greg Krause  who recorded his indoor best of 1:57.90 on the Boston track. Tolulope Oladele (2:07.79) and Chris Gardner (2:01.90) both recorded career best times -- indoor or outdoor -- Saturday.

Also recording a career indoor best Saturday was Peter Kissin. The senior posted a time of 8:23.25 in the 3,000 to move to the top of the Centennial's list this winter. Freshman Charlie Marquardt raced the first 3,000 of his collegiate career in Boston and saw his time of 8:30.92 move into the third-fastest spot amongst the league's 3,000-meter runners. David Roza (8:55.20) achieved a career best in the event Saturday while Avi Bregman (8:43.72) missed his indoor best by 0.47 seconds.

A trio of Fords vaulted themselves near the top of the conference's performance list in the 400 with Sam Callon leading the way. His 51.09 is now second-fastest in the Centennial but competition from within his own team was nipping at his heels. Freshman Jonathan Yellets (51.25) is third in the league while James Torrain (51.47) used his career best run in the 400 to slide up into the fourth-fastest spot.

In relay action at the Classic, the quartet of Callon, Torrain, Milic-Strkalj and Keny registered a Centennial-best time of 3:26.69 in the 4x400.

Next up for Haverford, ranked 14th in the final United States Track & Field and Cross Country Association preseason indoor track ranking, will be the Seamus McElligott Meet which it will host on Saturday, Feb. 2 at The Gary Lutnick Tennis & Track Center in Alumni Field House.
