HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's indoor track and field team began its season at the Villanova University Jack Pyrah Invitational on Saturday afternoon hosted on campus at the Alumni Field House.
Junior Jeffrey Ainsley won the 60m hurdles event, setting a meet record with a time of 8.50. He broke the previous record by eight-tenths of second and won this event by nine-tenths of a second over Joseph Ho.
The junior also finished third in the high jump (1.83m) behind Jordan Bryan (1.93m) and Kenneth Worthington (1.88m) of La Salle. Ainsley was sixth in the long jump (6.25m) with Villanova's Elbert Maxwell taking home the win in the event (7.22m).
In the 60m event, the Fords had four runners with junior Jonathan Yellets finishing 14th. Yellets ran a 7.46, good for second in his heat. Gavin Colley of Widener won with a 6.95, the only runner to finish under seven seconds.
Freshman Daniel Sax finished seventh in the 500m after winning his heat.
The Fords' 4x400m relay team placed sixth (3:31.64) while Saint Joseph's took the event with a time of 3:22.82.
Head coach Tom Donnelly's squad will host Widener in a duel meet on Thursday beginning at 4 p.m.
