COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Haverford College men's indoor track and field team posted a 1-2 finish in the 5000m distance to highlight the results of a day that sees the squad in first place after day one of the Centennial Conference Indoor Championships. Haverford has compiled 27 points thus far with the majority of action still to come tomorrow morning and afternoon.
In the men's 5000m, Graham Peet took the event title with a career-best 14:59.22, picking up 10 points for Haverford. Jimmy Gorman finished second with a time of 15:02.59, an indoor-best in the distance. Ryan Herlihy crossed in eighth to round out the scorers, picking up a point for Haverford with a 15:26.09 finish.
The Distance medley relay team crossed in 10:05.24 for a second place finish. The team of Greg Morgan, Liam Lynch, Peter Kurtz and Henry Woods picked up eight points for Haverford, falling just short of the event title which went to Muhlenberg. The DMR time was the ninth-best in Haverford indoor history.
In field events, Zach Oji just narrowly missed scoring in the triple jump, posting a mark of 11.96m.
For Haverford, the action will get underway tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. with the high jump. Heptathlon hurdles kick off the overall action at 10:00 a.m.
