Men's Track & Field Hosts Indoor Quad Meet, Picks Up Four Event Titles

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's track & field team won four event titles on Thursday afternoon inside the Alumni Field House. The meet also featured local competitors from Widener and Ursinus.

Nathan Leighninger delivered the event title in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:04.53 in his initial collegiate race in the distance. Michael Franco was fourth for Haverford, crossing in a new personal-best time of 2:13.39. Cameron Albrecht was the sixth finisher in 2:25.72, also a new personal best for the senior co-captain. In the mile, Ryan O'Donnell won the event for Haverford in a time of 4:50.12. The sophomore edged his previous best of 4:50.79. Nathan Akerhielm was second in 4:54.31, while Saul Ontiveros finished fifth in 5:15.65. 

In a 3,000 meter race that was full of Haverford entrants, Steve Gan ran to the event title with a PR of over 12 seconds. Ryan Quenemoen was second in 9:47.80, competing in his first collegiate 3,000 meter run, and Jack Fanikos was third in 9:50.14.  Dylan Kupetsky represented Haverford in the 400 meters, finishing fifth in a time of 1:02.14. 

Ashton Smith was the lone Haverford entrant in the 200 meters, finishing seventh overall in a time of 24.99. In field events, Andrew Lummus took third in the high jump, clearing a mark of 1.60 meters. Albrecht was the lone men's pole vault entrant, clearing 2.75 meters to claim the event crown. Rasaaq Shittu was fourth in the shot put with a mark of 10.78 meters, a new collegiate best for the first-year thrower. Smith also represented Haverford in the long jump, finishing second with a mark of 5.55 meters, a new collegiate best. 

A contingent of Haverford athletes will now head to the NYU Division III Invitational at The Armory complex in the Washington Heights district of Manhattan Friday afternoon. Action in New York City is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
