HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's track & field team has been slated to finish third in the Centennial Conference according to the 2021 CC Men's Indoor Track & Field Preseason Poll, the conference office announced in a release on Thursday.

Eight-time defending champion Johns Hopkins has been chosen as the unanimous favorite to repeat in the prognostication. The Blue Jays received all eight possible first-place votes and tallied 64 points to rank atop the vote among the conference head coaches. Ursinus was picked ahead of Haverford with 52 voting points, as the Fords (48 points)  edged out Dickinson (47 points) for third in a close vote. Dickinson was buoyed by one first place vote to overtake Haverford in the straw poll.  Swarthmore was picked fifth (33 points), ahead of Gettysburg (25), Muhlenberg (24), Franklin & Marshall (17) and McDaniel (14), respectively.

The Fords return 2020 Centennial Conference Outstanding Track Performer in Jamie Moreland, as Moreland won the mile and also was part of the gold-medal winning DMR and placed third in the 800 meters during that 2020 meet at Franklin & Marshall. The junior became the third straight and eighth overall winner of the award from the Haverford program. Matt Katz was a first-teamer in the DMR along with Moreland and Ethan Gadra also returns after making waves in the pole vault, setting a Haverford record for indoor pole vault nd taking the Centennial crown. Jeffrey Allen, Nico Tripeny, and Charlie Ferguson also return after silver finishes in the 4x800 meter relay.

The 2020-21 indoor track & field season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Centennial squads are eager to get back to the action this winter. We last witnessed CC teams compete at the 2020 conference championship meet, just weeks prior to the NCAA Championship being cancelled.

The Fords will open up the 2021-22 campaign with the traditional Haverford Holiday Meet on Saturday, December 4. The meet will begin at 10:30 a.m., due to campus COVID-19 related protocols, no outside spectators will be permitted at the event.  Live timing and a live video stream of selected events will be made available via HaverfordAthletics.com and fans are encouraged to follow @HCFords_Sports on Twitter and @hcfordssports on Instagram for the latest updates.

The 2022 Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships are currently slated for February 26 and February 27 at Ursinus.
