COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Haverford College men's track & field team continued the indoor campaign with action at conference foe Ursinus for the annual Collegeville Classic on Saturday. The meet saw the Fords going head-to-head with athletes from the host Bears, Dickinson, Elizabethtown, Shenandoah, Marywood, Division I Mount St. Mary's, Neumann, Arcadia, Gallaudet, and Rutgers-Camden.

Ravi Eaton took home the event title in the triple jump, finishing with a mark of 12.56 meters, good for a new personal best for the sophomore. The event crown for Eaton also followed a runner-up finish in the long jump (6.19 meters), as that mark was also a personal best with the season still young. Jacob Foster finished just outside of the scoring in the long jump, taking ninth (5.52 meters) overall.

A grouping in the 3,000 meters was paced by Peter La Rochelle, who finished in 8:59.58, good for second overall. Just behind La Rochelle was Ryan Quenemoen in sixth place (9:20.88), while Rowan Shigeno was 17th (10:11.92) and Keqing He crossed in 19th (11:12.09). In the longest distance event of the afternoon, the 5,000 meters, it was Seamus Fraser scoring for the Fords with an eighth place finish (16:26.81), while Luca Ponticello was the ninth to cross (16:32.69).

In the sprint events, it was Jonathan Hill etching a ninth-place finish in the 60-meter finals (7.40), following up on a 7.38 in the prelims. Other Haverford placers in the prelims included Amon-Ra Kamit (7.56), Ashton Smith (7.72), Nathan Ma (7.82), and Boahen Kwakye (8.26). Hill was the fourth to cross in the 200 meters (23.48), scoring for the Fords with an impressive time that was just outside the indoor program top 10. Eaton was 16th (24.32) in that event, while co-captain Ashton Smith (24.82) and Kamit (25.09) also notched top 30 finishes.

Matthew Ruiz was the lone entrant for the Fords in the 400 meters, crossing in 1:07.51 for 35th. Michael Franco was also the 11th to cross in the 800 meters (2:09.05), while Evan Daniels crossed in 2:11.72 for 14th to wrap up the Haverford contingent. A large grouping of athletes in the men's mile included a sixth-place finish from Matt Denton (4:34.80), who finished ahead of ninth-place finisher Jeffrey Allen (4:42.76).

Multi specialist Cyrus Slavin made his foray into the shot put with a mark of 10.21 meters for 19th place, while co-captain Rasaaq Shittu notched a 21st place finish with a throw of 9.94 meters.

With the winter schedule beginning to hit its stride, Haverford will have a busy week coming up. The Fords are home for the McElligott Invitational on Saturday, January 29, with events beginning at 10:30 a.m. Throwing events will be held on Friday, January 28 at Widener University.
