HAVERFORD, Pa. -  The Haverford College men's indoor track & field team begins the postseason meets on Saturday, as the 2022 Centennial Conference Championships open up at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa. Haverford has finished first or second at all but one indoor meet since the 1999 season. In the 27-year history of the Centennial indoor meet, Haverford owns the most team titles with 17, followed by Johns Hopkins (8), Dickinson (1) and Franklin & Marshall (1).

Haverford returns a pair of defending champions as Jamie Moreland, the 2020 Indoor Track Performer of the Year in the conference, returns from his mile title and Ethan Gadra returns after capturing the pole vault.

Gadra will look to reprise that title as the Haverford indoor and outdoor record holder in the event with a 4.10 meters seed mark when the pole vault begins at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The men's 60 meter dash features Amon-Ra Kamit (7.56) and Alex Reichard (7.35) in a crowded group also aiming for medals in the short sprint. The prelims are slated for 1:10 p.m. on Saturday with the finals at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday.

In the men's triple jump (Saturday, 1:30 p.m.) Ravi Eaton figures to have a solid scoring chance for the Fords with a seed time of 12.56 meters. The 5,000 meter grouping (Saturday, 2:45 p.m.) then hits the course with Max Brelig (14:55.81), Peter Buckley (15:04.37), Miles Colescott (15:26.78), and Aaron Bratt (15:39.80) all with a good chance to medal for Haverford.  Brelig is one of three runners with a seed time below 15 minutes.

The distance medley relay (Saturday, 3:45 p.m.) is another shot for Haverford to grab an event title, as the Fords have a string of dominance in the event. Haverford has won the DMR at three straight Centennial Conference Indoor Championships and 19 times overall in the conference's 27-year history. The 4x200 meter relay concludes the day at 4:10 p.m. On Sunday,  Eaton will get things going for the Fords at noon with the long jump, with Nathan Ma also competing for the Fords.

The men's mile then kicks off at 2:20 p.m. as Moreland will look to defend his crown in one of the most loaded fields in the entire championship slate. Moreland's top time ranks eighth in Division III, while the JHU trio of Arthur Beyer (4:11.90 / 17th), Matthew Kleiman (4:11.91 / 18th) and Daniel Chen (4:13.14 / 27th) also have times among the tops in the nation this year.

A large Haverford contingent also includes Seamus Fraser, Seamus Flannery, Nathan Leighninger, Matt Katz, Ryan Quenemoen, Evan Daniels, Sammy Schindel, Michael Franco, Reza Eshghi, and Charlie Ferguson.  At 2:10 p.m. Moreland (1:55.52)  and Eshghi (1:59.22) will compete in the 800 meters as well, looking to complete that middle distance double on a quick turnaround.

An extremely large contingent of runners in the 200 meters include Kamit and Jonathan Hill. A newcomer to the Fords this season, Hill figures to be right in the mix for a medal as he holds the fourth-fastest seed time before a large cluster of runners on his heels.

The men's 3000 meters (3 p.m.) features a bevy of Haverford runners with Ryan Kredell, Peter LaRochelle, Colescott, Buckley, Brelig, Nico Tripeny, and  Luca Ponticello all representing the Fords. Tripeny and Kredell figure to have the best medal chances, but the field is wide open with Haverford's strong distance contingent eager to show off its strength in numbers.

The 4x800 meter relay and 4x400 meter relay then conclude the day, with Haverford holding the 4x800 meter relay meet record, set back in 2014. LAst season, the squad that featured Tripeny, Ferguson, and Jeffrey Allen took silver.

Live video and live results from all 19 events from both genders will be available throughout the weekend of competition. A full schedule of the 2022 Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships is also available through the Centennial Conference Championship Central.
