Men's Track & Field Opens CC Indoor Championships with Three Medals

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's indoor track & field team sits in third place at the end of the first day of action at the Centennial Conference Indoor Championships with 26.5 total points. 

Haverford's distance medley relay took home the bronze medal with the team of Reza Eshghi, Ravi Eaton, Charlie Ferguson, and Jamie Moreland delivering a time of 10:09.07, an extremely fast mark that was better than Haverford's Centennial Conference championship winning time in 2020 by over 10 seconds. The foursome will earn honorable mention All-Centennial Conference accolades based on their performance on Saturday.

Ethan Gadra also picked up a bronze for the Fords in the pole vault, as he cleared 4.09 meters (13'-5") to tie with Peter Lim of Johns Hopkins for the bronze. Gadra, the 2020 champion in the distance, has now picked up a medal at three consecutive CC championship meets dating back to his first year campaign. 

Haverford also had a medal winning performance in the 5,000 meters with Peter Buckley picking up the bronze in 15:04.20. Also scoring for Haverford was Max Brelig with a fifth-place showing in 15:17.15, and Aaron Bratt in seventh (15:25). Just outside of the scoring was rookie Miles Colescott, who finished in 15:33.53. The 4x200 meter relay team scored three points for the Fords with a sixth-place showing as Jonathan Hill, Jacob Foster, Amon-Ra Kamit, and Nathan Ma clocked a time of 1:37.46 in that event. 

In 60-meter preliminary action, the Fords got a blazing mark from Alex Reichard, as he notched a 7.26, a career-best mark and tied for the fourth-best time in program history. Reichard will now look to medal in the final which is slated for 1:45 p.m. 

Johns Hopkins leads the team standings with 75.5 total points. Ursinus sits in second with 53.50 while the Haverford total of 26.5 points edges out fourth-place Dickinson (21 points). 

The 2022 Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships will wrap up on Sunday. The second day of the championship meet will get underway at 11:30 a.m. and continue through the 4x400 relay which is slated for a 4:25 p.m. start. Medal ceremonies will follow the conclusion of action.
