NEW YORK, N.Y. - Opening up the 2023 portion of the season on Saturday evening inside the New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory in New York City, the Haverford College men's track & field team registered some eye-popping times in limited action at the TCNJ Indoor Invitational.

In the 800 meters, Jamie Moreland took the event crown in impressive fashion, logging a time of 1:52.93. The blazing fast time is a new career best for the senior, as he opened his senior indoor campaign with a strong mark that figures to be among the nation's best thus far in the young season once times are finalized from the weekend's action. The time is also the fifth-best indoor mark in the program's illustrious middle distance history.

Reza Eshghi also finished with a PR in the event, as he crossed in 1:57.38 for a sixth-place overall showing. Reed Solomon crossed 21st with a time of 2:04.84 and Sam Diaz rounded out the Haverford contingent in 2:09.50 for 35th in a crowded field.

The mile crown went to senior Ryan Kredell, who paced the field in a blazing fast time of 4:11.02. Kredell's time also figures to be among the best in Division III thus far this season, as he toppled his personal best by more than eight seconds. The reigning Centennial Conference Runner of the Year for the cross country campaign figures to be in a solid position to make a splash in the indoor season.

Matt Denton was the second Haverford runner to toe the line in the mile, crossing in 17th place overall in 4:28.86. Senior captain Michael Franco logged a 22nd place showing (4:31.92) while Sammy Schindel (4:36.80) notched a 29th place finish and Evan Daniels (5:00.03) rounded out the Haverford contingent in the mile with a 48th place showing.

In the 3,000-meter run, it was a small distance grouping paced by Peter LaRochelle for the Fords. LaRochelle opened up his 2023 stint with a time of 8:42.75 for 11th overall. Miles Colescott was the second Haverford athlete to toe the line in 8:46.62 for 13th, while seniors Nico Tripeny (14th, 8:47.34 and Aaron Bratt (15th, 8:47.59) both logged top 15 finishes in another strong field.

In the lone field event for the Fords, first year Jory Lee continued an impressive start to his rookie campaign, logging a jump of 13.13 meters (43 feet, 1 inch), just barely off his mark of 14.14 meters from December's meet at Ursinus. The jump was good for a ninth place overall finish for Lee.

With the 2022-23 indoor slate now underway in earnest, Haverford will next return to action on Saturday, January 21 with a contingent heading to the Ocean Breeze Complex on Staten Island for the Villanova Invitational (4 p.m.) while another group of Fords heads to the Collegeville Classic at Ursinus (10 a.m.)
