Moreland Earns Second CC Athlete of the Week Award This Season

Full Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - For the fourth consecutive week, a Haverford men's track & field athlete has picked up Centennial Conference Track Athlete of the Week honors, with Jamie Moreland earning his second nod of the 2022-23 season after an impressive performance at the NYC Division III Invitational at the Armory. The weekly honor is the fifth in Moreland's track & field career as he picked up the honor once during the 2019-20 campaign, and also earned the award twice last season.

Previously, teammate Ryan Kredell was honored in back-to-back weeks following standout performances in the 3,000 and 5,000-meter distances to wrap up the month of January.

On Friday, Moreland paced the field in the 800 meters, setting a new meet record at 1:52.99. The time fell just shy of his personal best of 1:52.93, a mark that he set on the same track last month at the TCNJ Invite. Moreland's time also ranks among the top-20 nationally.

The Los Angeles native will next compete at the 115th Millrose Games right back at The Armory on Saturday, February 11. He will be part of the George Hirsch Invitational Mile field, with that contest slated to begin at approximately 4:10 p.m. as another record breaking weekend could be on the horizon.

The rest of the 15th-ranked Haverford squad will also be in New York City, with a trip to Staten Island on Friday, February 10 for the FastTrack National Invite. Action at Ocean Breeze is slated to begin at noon.
