Men's Track & Field Posts Strong Showing at Frank Colden Invitational

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Haverford College men's track & field team participated in another significant tune-up meet at Ursinus College, showcasing a plethora of personal-best and season-best performances at the Frank Colden Invitational held at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center.

In the customary indoor mid-season meets, a sizable mile contingent graced the track. Evan Daniels secured a fifth-place finish, clocking a season-best 4:42.79. Just behind in heat one, William Harris crossed the line in 4:52.25, securing the 12th position overall.

The 3,000-meter grouping witnessed two standout first-year distance runners. Luke de Valpine claimed fifth place overall with a new personal-best of 9:04.71, while Cullen Worth secured the 12th position overall with a new PR, clocking in at 9:56.59.

In mile action, Deven Abrams finished 14th as the top Haverford performer with a time of 4:55.25, and Xingyun Yang set a new personal-best of 4:59.61 for 16th place. Kieran McDonnell completed the Haverford contingent, finishing 17th in 5:04.88.

Jonathan Hill led a substantial 400-meter grouping for Haverford, securing a 20th-place finish in 55.04. Zenas Boamah continued his impressive rookie season with a 26th place finish in 56.47, and Vir Goyal also placed within the top 30, claiming 28th place with a time of 56.54. Matthew Ruiz logged a career-best time of 1:00.72, finishing 41st overall.

In the 800 meters, Sam Diaz finished 24th with a time of 2:11.08, closely followed by rookie Gopal Patel, who set a personal-best time of 2:11.14.

Jonah Hoffman-Weitsman set a season-best time of 26.08 in the men's 200 meters, finishing 40th. Jason Mayo (43rd, 26.31), Kevin Villafane (47th, season-best 26.78), and Boahen Kwakye (51st, 28.73) also represented Haverford in the event.

Nathan Ma secured the 13th position in the long jump, leaping a season-best 5.83 meters (19 feet, 1.5 inches). Tiger Wang also competed in the event, recording a distance of 4.89 meters (16 feet, one-half inch).

Wang also led the shot put grouping, claiming the 20th position with a toss of 9.27 meters (30 feet, 5 inches). Rocky Luan added an 8.58-meter (28 feet, 1.75 inches) toss for 22nd place, and Jonah Levine finished 23rd with a throw of 8.43 meters (27 feet, eight inches). The men's 4x400 meter relay squad, consisting of Leo Gordon, Patel, Diaz, and Abrams, secured the sixth position with a time of 4:01.67.

Men's Track & Field returns to action on Friday, February 9 at the Fastrack National Invitational on Staten Island. Action at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex is slated to begin at 1 p.m. A contingent of Haverford athletes will also head up to next Saturday's David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University with more details to follow.
