HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's indoor track & field team earned eight awards from the Centennial Conference on Thursday. Reza Eshghi was named to the All-Centennial first team for both the mile and 3,000 meters, while Peter LaRochelle received second-team honors in the 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters. The 4x200 meter relay team of Thomas Fendig, Samuel Lin, Vir Goyal, and Nico Greene also earned second-team honors, and Jory Lee secured an honorable mention in the triple jump for the second consecutive season.
Eshghi's impressive performance brought Haverford to the top of the medal podium in the mile for the second straight season with a blazing meet-record time of 4:08.09. He has now scored in the event for four consecutive seasons and claimed the program's 27th Centennial Conference mile title. The Lincoln, Mass., native also won the 3,000-meter title with a time of 8:31.56, edging classmate LaRochelle, who finished second in 8:33.27.
LaRochelle added to his hardware collection with a second-place finish in the 5,000 meters, crossing the line in 14:55.61 and earning eight points for the Fords. This marks his second consecutive silver medal in the event.
In field events, Jory Lee secured a third-place finish in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 14.05 meters (46 feet, 1.25 inches), which ranks as the fourth-best mark in program history. Lee's performance earned him his second consecutive bronze medal in the event, contributing six points to Haverford's total.
Relays were also a standout for the Fords. The 4x200-meter relay team—Fendig, Goyal, Greene, and Lin—delivered an electrifying performance, clocking in at 1:32.15 to finish second and earn eight points. This time, which improves on their season-best, now stands as the second-fastest in program history and was one of the biggest highlights from the meet's first day in Lancaster.
In line with NCAA Division III and Centennial Conference values of sportsmanship, Nathan Ma was named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team in his senior season. The team captain competed in five regular season meets for the Fords this indoor campaign, primarily in the long jump, 60 meters, and 200 meters. He posted a personal-best time of 7.58 in the 60 meters at the Fastrack National Invite last month.
Looking ahead to the NCAA Indoor Championships in Rochester, N.Y., Eshghi remains a strong contender for a spot in either the 3,000 meters or the mile, or both. His school-record time in the 3,000 meters, set in Boston two weekends ago, currently ranks fifth in the nation, while his mile performance is the sixth-fastest. The top 20 declared athletes in individual events and the top 12 relays will qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Eshghi will have a chance to boost his time further, as he competes in the PTRC Indoor Classic at the University of Pennsylvania's Ott Center on Saturday morning, with mile action beginning at apoproximately 11:45 a.m.
