New conference record propels Schilit to weekly Centennial honor

LANCASTER, Pa. – Make it two in a row for Haverford College's Jordan Schilit.

The Centennial Conference on Tuesday afternoon announced the junior distance runner as the outdoor track & field athlete of the week for the second consecutive week.

Schilit raced to a ninth-place finish in the 10,000 meter run Friday, April 6 at Princeton's Sam Howell Invitational with a time of 29 minutes, 46.07 seconds, eclipsing the previous record of 29:53.22 which had been set by Haverford's J.B. Haglund in 2002.

The time at Princeton was the fastest by a Division III runner in the event and is the third-fastest D-III time in the nation this spring.

In the previous week, Schilit raced to a first-place finish in the 1,500 at the Danny Curran Invitationa to earn the weekly conference onorl. His winning time of 3:53.45 is still the third-fastest in the 2012 D-III outdoor season.
