Men's Track & Field Wraps Regular Season at Widener Final Qualifier

CHESTER, Pa. - The Haverford College men's track & field team competed in the Widener Final Qualifier Meet on Monday afternoon at Leslie Quick Jr. Stadium at Widener University, giving competitors one last chance to qualify for the upcoming NCAA Championships.

Four different Haverford entrants competed in the 1,500 meters, with Reza Eshghi finishing second overall in a personal-best 3:46.80. This time ranks as the 10th best in program history and currently stands as the 15th-fastest mark in the nation so far this season. Eshghi aims to represent Haverford at the NCAA Division III Championships in Myrtle Beach, S.C. over Memorial Day weekend. The final selection announcement is scheduled for Friday, May 17th on NCAA.com - For each event at the national championship meet, the marks of the top 22 declared student-athletes will be accepted into the competition

Matthew Denton concluded an illustrious Haverford career with a personal-best 3:49.70 for sixth place overall, while Micah Lachman finished 25th (personal-best 3:58.91), and Reed Solomon was 31st (personal-best four minutes flat).

Ravi Eaton achieved an outdoor PR of 13.96 meters (45 feet, 9.75 inches) in the triple jump, securing fifth place overall in his final jump for the program. This mark also ranks as the sixth-best in the program's outdoor history.

Haverford had four entrants in the 5,000 meters, with junior Peter LaRochelle finishing 14th to lead the Fords in an outdoor personal-best 14:39.47. Jakob Maiwald finished 50th in 15:28.01, Joseph De Rosa was 60th overall (personal-best 15:37.13), and Sammy Schindel was 79th (16:11.39).

Kicking off Monday's action in the 100 meters, senior Jonathan Hill dashed to the finish line in 11.23 seconds, securing 20th place overall. Hill also competed in the 200 meters, finishing 11th with a time of 21.94. Vir Goyal joined Hill in the 100 meters, finishing 37th with a new personal best time of 23.77.

Seamus Fraser competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, clocking 9:15.38 for fourth place overall, a new personal best for the junior.

Haverford will now wait until the NCAA releases the qualifiers for the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships to see which student-athletes will be making the trip to the Palmetto State for the national championships.
