Schilit picks up consecutive USTFCCCA track honors

NEW ORLEANS – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Friday afternoon its Division III regional winners for outdoor track & field athletes of the year with Haverford College's Jordan Schilit garnering the Mideast Region's track award.

Schilit, a junior, captured three individual event titles at the 2012 Centennial Conference outdoor championship meet, winning the 1,500, 5,000 and 10,000 meter runs. His time of 13 minutes, 59.21 seconds in the 5,000 set new school and conference records and ranks as the second-fastest D-III time in the event during this outdoor season. Schilit ranks fourth on the national performance list in the 1,500 (3:47.21) and sixth in the 10,000 (29:46.07) with a new league record.

During the indoor season Schilit raced to All-American honors in the 5,000 with a seventh-place finish at the national meet, a day after being named the USTFCCCA's Mideast region track athlete of the year. He also earned all-American honors in cross country with an 18th-place finish at the NCAA championship race in the fall, helping push the Fords -- the 2010 national champions -- to a runner-up finish at the 2011 meet.
