USTFCCCA Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's outdoor track and field team improves to No. 11 in the latest US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association's computer rankings. The Fords were No. 13 in last week's rankings.

Yesterday's Swarthmore Last Chance Meet was not compiled into the latest rankings. At that meet, junior Charlie Marquardt finished as the highest Division III runner in the 1,500m (third place) and set a personal record (3:43.84). Marquardt's time is also the best in Division III by two seconds and the eighth fastest all-time and now gives him the top two times in Division III in the 1,500m.

At the Centennial Conference Championships two weeks ago, the Fords had seven individual winners en route to a second place finish to Johns Hopkins for the second straight season.

UW-La Crosse was the No. 1 team in the rankings for the eighth consecutive week while UW-Eau Claire, UW-Whitewater, Monmouth (Ill.) and Salisbury round out the top five. The Fords are the only team from the Centennial Conference ranked in the top 25.

Head coach Tom Donnelly's squad will now travel to the NCAA Championships in Canton, N.Y., hosted by St. Lawrence from May 21-23. The Fords have finished in the top ten each of the past two seasons with a tie for sixth place in 2014 and eighth place tally in 2013.
