Season Review: Men's Outdoor T&F Places Second at CC Championships

Season Notes: Junior Charlie Marquardt secured his third career All-America accolade as he finished second in the 1,500m event at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships … Seniors Joel Christian (10,000m) and David Roza (steeplechase) also qualified for the national meet … Marquardt was named US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Track Athlete of the Week (May 19) and Mideast Regional Track Athlete of the Year … Senior Gibby Graves was selected as the USTFCCCA Mideast Regional Field Athlete of the Year … Haverford had six members make the All-Centennial Conference team … Marquardt was picked as the Centennial Conference Outstanding Track Performer after becoming just the fifth runner in conference meet history to win both the 800m and 1,500m races … Graves nabbed the Centennial's Outstanding Field Performer for the second straight season on the heels of becoming the first person in the conference's history to sweep the jumps … Marquardt set a personal record with the eight fastest time in Division III history in the 1,500m (3:43.84) at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet (May 11) … The junior also posted the seventh quickest time in the nation in the 5,000m (14:21.63) at the Sam Howell Invitational (Apr. 3) … Christian ran to a top ten national time in the 10,000m (30:33.30) while Roza cruised to the sixth best time in the country in the steeplechase (9:05.60) at the Larry Ellis Invitational (Apr. 17) … Graves won eight individual titles during the spring season … Nick Gandolfo-Lucia won the 5,000m (15:26.39) event at the Widener Invitational (Apr. 17) … Michael Brier was a winner in the 1,500m (4:06.24) at the Muhlenberg Invitational (Apr. 4) … John Curry scored the Ford's first individual victory of the outdoor season with his 9:56.53 time in the steeplechase at the Danny Curran Invitational (Mar. 28)

Looking Ahead: Marquardt will return looking for another All-American title. Haverford finished second in the Centennial Conference Championships and has 15 top ten performers returning next season. With a strong core coming back along with several more from injury, the Fords will be in contention in 2016.
