WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Haverford outdoor track and field athletes Josiah Legaspi and George Avecillas competed at West Chester University's Golden Rams Invitational on Saturday afternoon, making a dent on the Haverford record books with solid marks in the throwing disciplines.

George Avecillas competed in the javelin, finishing in 10th with a distance of 44.83 meters. The mark is a career-best and represents the 10th best mark in Haverford's record books in the discipline, which date back to 1986.

Legaspi competed in the Hammer, finishing in 12th with a distance of 31.85 meters. The mark falls short of Legaspi's personal record but is farther than the career-best marks of all but three throwers in Haverford history. Legaspi also finished in 10th overall in the Discus with a distance of 33.64 meters.

Next weekend, the full Haverford squad will kick of the 2017 season at the Danny Curran Invitational in Chester, Pa. on Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1. The meet is hosted by Widener University.
