COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Thanks to a strong performance in the 10,000 meters, the Haverford College Men's Track & Field teams sits in second at the end of the first day of the 2022 Centennial Conference Outdoor Championships at Ursinus. The Fords currently have 21 points entering the second day of action. Battling wet and rainy conditions at Patterson Field, Ryan Kredell paced a large Haverford contingent in the 10,000m, clocking a silver medal finish in 30:31.36, just seconds behind the winner Gavin McElhennon from Johns Hopkins.

Kredell, one of Haverford's top distance runners throughout the season, was making his 10k track debut. Finishing in third behind Kredell was teammate Max Brelig with a bronze medal showing in 30:55.37. Aaron Bratt (31:10.70) and Amos Karlsen (31:47.95) finished in fifth and sixth respectively to round out the Haverford scorers. Jacob Gaba finished just outside of the scoring, crossing in 32:46.64 for 13th, besting his previous PR by almost two minutes. Rowan Shigeno crossed 23rd in 35:22.55.

Haverford's only other event on Friday was the hammer throw, as Cyrus Slavin finished 16th with an emphatic mark of 30.42 meters (99 feet, 9.64 inches). That mark, which came on Slavin's first toss, is a personal best and the fourth-best in program outdoor history.

The second day of events at the CC Championships begins tomorrow at 11 a.m. as day two features a bevy of scoring events as well as prelims for many track distances. Live video and live results are available via the CC Championships Central page.
