Trio of Fords earn All-Centennial softball honors

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Centennial Conference released its 2010 All-Centennial softball team Thursday afternoon and a trio of Fords earned all-league honors.

Senior Cassandra Searls was named to the First-Team following a season in which she posted career-bests both at the plate and in the pitcher's circle. Her eight pitching victories marked a career-high, and her .381 batting average was a single-season best. Searls was named Second-Team all-conference in each of the previous three seasons.

Junior outfielder Beth Davis picked up Second-Team all-league honors for the first time. The lefty scored 24 runs (more than double her previous high), stole nine bases in 12 attempts and batted .323 on the year. Davis also earned a spot on the Centennial Academic Honor Roll for the second consecutive year.

Junior shortstop Candice Smith posted a .433 on-base percentage for the Fords and registered a career-best 13 RBI in earning her second consecutive Honorable-Mention conference honor. Smith, too, has earned Academic Honor-Roll for the second time.
