HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College softball team (8-22, 2-10 CC) completed its halted contest with Swarthmore on Thursday, falling to the Garnet 12-7 (18-6, 7-3 CC) before hosting a single non-conference game against Cabrini (9-11). The Cavaliers prevailed in that contest, taking a 10-3 victory.

In the first segment of the afternoon, with the score tied at 7-7 and picking up action from April 9 in the sixth inning, Swarthmore scored twice in the top of the sixth, loading the bases before scoring the go-ahead run on a wild pitch from Alex Simon. The visitors added insurance runs in the seventh inning with Olivia McClammy notching an RBI single ahead of Grace Taylor's RBI knock.

Tessa Pearlstein reached third in the sixth inning after walking and advancing to second on a groundout and wild pitch. The Fords also put a runner on in the seventh, but the Garnet secured the CC win.

The originally scheduled Cabrini game saw Alexa Finkele take the circle against Avery Byrnes. Finkele ran into early trouble against a formidable Cabrini lineup, with the Cavaliers scoring four runs in the top of the first. The first five hitters in the order all reached base, with Byrnes and Kaitlyn Delaney each adding RBI singles before Sam Kilson notched a sacrifice fly.

In the top of the third, Cabrini added insurance runs to support Byrnes, with Brooke Protesto connecting on an RBI double and Ari Mirenda delivering a sacrifice fly ahead of Maddie Gugel's RBI single.

The Fords rallied in the fifth inning as Addie Sapirstein reached on an error and immediately stole second. With one out, Abby Litchfield laced the first hit of the contest for the Fords into left field, advancing into scoring position on the throw. Kyra van Denburgh then laid down a perfectly placed bunt to score Sapirstein, and Sarah Fan singled into center field to score Litchfield. After Fan advanced into scoring position with a wild pitch, Jocelyn Leal delivered a single to center to bring home the third run of the frame.

Rachel McQueen took over in the circle to begin the sixth, and Mirenda walked and stole second before scoring on a single up the middle from Kelsey Huling. Van Denburgh took over the pitching duties in the seventh as Cabrini added a sacrifice fly from Mirenda and a hard-hit infield single from Byrnes to take a 10-3 lead that would hold as the eventual final score.

Abby Olivier and Fan each drew walks with two down in the seventh, but the Fords could not solve Byrnes in the final inning as she secured the complete-game victory, tossing seven innings of four-hit ball without surrendering an earned run.

Haverford now returns to action on Saturday, heading to Franklin & Marshall for a doubleheader with the Diplomats in Lancaster. The contests are slated to begin at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
