DiCandilo and Newman named all-conference

LANCASTER, Pa. - Haverford College sophomores Jen DiCandilo and Elizabeth Newman were named to the 2012 All-Centennial Conference Softball Team as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. The duo earned honorable mention recognition.

Splitting time between third base and catcher, DiCandilo led the team in RBIs (38) and finished second in hits (37).  She also tied for the team lead in home runs with five. A second-team all-conference selection in 2011, DiCandilo started all 36 games for Fords this season.

The constant sparkplug at the top of the lineup, Newman finished first on the squad in batting average (.408), runs scored (32), hits (49), on base percentage (.474) and stolen bases (9). Earning all-conference recognition for the first time, Newman also led the team in total plate appearances (137).
