Kristin Tatum Named Third-Team All-Region by NFCA

NFCA All-Region Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Kristin Tatum has been selected as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Atlantic Region honoree. Tatum, who was selected to the third team which is comprised of at-large players from every position, is just the third player in program history to earn this distinction. The last time Haverford was represented on the NFCA All-Region team was during the 2006 season when Sarah Nagle '06 and Nora Spriggs '06 both earned this same recognition.

Tatum was a first-team All-Centennial Conference catcher for the Fords this past year. She was one of five players that started every Haverford game during the 2015 season. The Fords' junior led the Centennial Conference in both home runs (7) and slugging percentage (.686). In addition to leading the conference, Tatum also led the team in on-base percentage (.500), runs scored (39), total bases (72), and walks (16), while tying for the team lead with 29 RBI.

A .400 hitter on the season, Tatum was at her best during Centennial Conference games where she raised her average to .429 in conference play. She finished with a hit in 28 different games, including 12 multi-hit outings. She also scored a run in 28 different games, while driving in a run during 19 different contests. Behind the plate, Tatum had a .972 fielding percentage and threw out five runners trying to steal against her.

Tatum already ranks first in several categories in program history, including home runs (17), fielding percentage (.986), and runners caught stealing (18). She was just the eighth different player in program history to bat .400 during a single season. Her .686 slugging percentage, .500 on-base percentage, 39 runs scored, and seven home runs were all the second best single-season marks in program history.

Softball finished the year by making its third straight trip to the Centennial Conference Tournament. That accomplishment is the first time in program history Haverford has made three straight trips to the postseason. The 25 victories were the fourth most in a single season.
