HAVERFORD, Pa. – Dayle Comerford '15 of the Haverford College softball team has been named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team for the first time in her career. Comerford is one of 11 student-athletes honored on the all-area team that is voted on by the sports information offices of the 29 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better.

Comerford had a standout 2015 season on the diamond as the senior was one of four Haverford players named first-team All-Conference. She was one of five Haverford players to start all 36 games this season. She ranked fourth among all her Centennial Conference peers with a .417 batting average. Her 50 hits this season led the Fords, while she tied for the team lead with 29 runs batted in. She ranked second on the team with a .583 slugging percentage, .447 on-base percentage, 34 runs scored, four home runs, and 70 total bases. She was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week on April 7 of this year.

In addition to her athletic achievements, Comerford was a three-time member of the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll. Additionally, she was recently awarded Haverford's Stephen G. Cary '37 Award, an award for the senior who have made the greatest overall impact on the Haverford athletic program during their college careers, through some combination of athletic participation and achievement, leadership, sportsmanship, off-field athletic dept. involvements, work within the department or other athletically-related contributions. Comerford was also named an Ambler Scholar-Athlete and to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Four first team earlier this spring.

Comerford graduated from Haverford as a member of the winningest class in program history. Together, her class accumulated 97 victories over its four years. That class reached the pinnacle by winning the 2014 Centennial Conference Championship and winning a pair of games at the NCAA Regional. During the 2014 postseason, Comerford was named the Centennial Conference Tournament MVP.
