Signature wins: From the first game of the year – when the Fords beat a Rowan team that eventually played in the Women's College World Series – to its Centennial Conference Tournament run, the Haverford College softball season was filled with plenty of memorable moments. That win against Rowan certainly helped set the tone for the season as Haverford improved its win total by 14 under first year head coach Kate Poppe.

The Fords continued to make noise around the Centennial Conference as they advanced to the championship game against Gettysburg after they were picked last in the preseason poll. To get into that position, Haverford got a shutout from Temma Levis during the playoff opener against McDaniel and saw Emma Souter deliver a two-out go-ahead grand slam in the top of the seventh inning against Washington College. Unfortunately for the Fords, they would fall in game six to Gettysburg before the seventh and decisive game of the tournament was canceled due to rain and unplayable field conditions.

Season Notes: Haverford made its eighth trip to the Centennial Conference Tournament during the 2018 season, its fifth postseason appearance in six years … The Fords have advanced to the championship game during six of those eight postseason appearances … Julia Blake led the Centennial Conference in both batting average (.434) and on-base percentage (.525) … Her on-base percentage set the Colllege's single-season record that was previously held by Elizabeth Newman '14 during the 2013 season (.516) … Blake enters her senior season with a .457 career on-base percentage which is tied with Newman for the highest rate in program history … A team captain, Blake is now a three-time All-Centennial Conference performer entering her senior season … Blake ranked second only to teammate Emma Souter for the conference lead in slugging percentage (.699) … The Fords broke the school record for fielding percentage (.957) in a single season … The team's batting average (.317) and on-base percentage (.383) were both the second highest in school history, eclipsed only by the 2015 team … Haverford's six Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll selections tied for the third most in school history as the Fords had seven student-athletes honored following the 2011 and 2015 seasons.

Looking ahead: After returning to its usual postseason form in 2018, the Fords appear in strong position to once again vie for the conference title heading into the 2019 campaign. Although Haverford will lose graduated seniors Alex Craig, Emily Gorman, and Jessica Koshinski, the Fords return six of their eight regular starters from the 2018 lineup and each of its three pitchers from this season. Rising seniors Julia Blake and Rachel Wolfson have both been three-year starters for the team. Rising juniors Temma Levis and Ashley Sisto have both been all-conference performers throughout their career while classmates Briana Quinn and Marybeth Stone were also key pieces to the 2018 team's success. Emma Souter and Nicole Swisher were also starters on the team as first years with Johanna Batterton, Allison Mackenzie, and Elaina Savage adding significant depth to all facets of the team.
