Carley Parsons Named Centennial Conference Softball Player of the Week

Full Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College senior Carley Parsons (Yardley, Pa. / Pennsbury) was named the Centennial Conference Softball Player of the Week after a torrid start to the season for Haverford in the Sunshine State. This is the first weekly award for Parsons, who was named second-team All-Centennial Conference after the 2022 season.

Parsons opened the 2023 season on fire for the Fords, hitting 12-for-19 (.632) with an inside-the-park home run, a triple, two doubles, 11 RBIs, 10 runs scored and seven stolen bases in a 7-1 week at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Florida. Parsons notched five multi-hit games and seven games with at least one RBI and one run scored.

The senior outfielder posted a .682 on-base percentage and slugged 1.000 for the week. The 7-1 start is Haverford's best since 2014. Despite having just eight games to its ledger so far this season, the Haverford offense ranks second in the nation in total runs (107), fourth for hits (134), and fourth for batting average (.429).

The Fords are now back in Pennsylvania, with four games against local foes on the docket this week. Haverford will play at Cabrini on Thursday (3 p.m. / 5 p.m.) and then host Eastern on Saturday (1 p.m. / 3 p.m.) as doubleheader action continues on the Main Line.
