Abby Marquis Earns Second Consecutive Spot on PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Team

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Abby Marquis, a senior chemistry major from Albuquerque, New Mexico, has once again been honored with a selection to the Philadelphia Sports Information Directors (PhillySIDA) Academic All-Area team. The 2023 season marks Marquis' second consecutive recognition on the squad for her outstanding achievements as a student-athlete.

During her short tenure with the softball program, Marquis has made an undeniable impact. As a National Player of the Year watchlist candidate, she has shattered multiple offensive records at Haverford. Marquis currently holds the career record for slugging percentage (.715) and single-season slugging (.778), while also dominating in RBI (42), doubles (20), home runs (8), and total bases (91) for a single season. Additionally, she led the Centennial Conferenece in home runs, RBI, slugging percentage, and total bases, with top 10 rankings in doubles, triples, and sacrifice flies.

The annual team is selected through voting by the sports information offices of 30 institutions in the Philadelphia metropolitan area who take athletic and academic accomplishments into consideration when voting. In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or better.
