LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has unveiled its 2023-24 Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athlete Awards on Tuesday afternoon, with the Haverford College program earning the 10th-highest GPA in Division III. The prestigious honor cemented the Fords atop the Centennial Conference, as the next best school in the Centennial, Swarthmore, secured the 13th-best GPA in Division III.
In addition to the team award, a total of 15 Haverford athletes were named to individual Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete honors. To qualify for this distinction student-athletes must have maintained at least a 3.5 or better cumulative GPA for the 2023-24 academic year.
Softball student-athletes earning the award for Haverford included: Kaleigh Bodak, Maddie Etheridge, Sarah Fan, Alexa Finkele, Mia Kessinger, Jocelyn Leal, Abby Litchfield, Lauren Martin, Rachel McQueen, Abby Olivier, Tessa Pearlstein, Addie Sapirstein, Anna Stowe, Grace Stowe, and Kyra Van Denburgh.
The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association's membership categories. NCAA Division I led the way with 2,573 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2023-24.NCAA Division III followed with 2,285 and NCAA Division II with 1,510. Junior Colleges and NAIA came in with 873 and 808 student-athletes respectively.
