Samantha (Fontinell) Fearse ’09 recently completed her fifth season with the Haverford College softball team in 2016. She still ranks among the top three pitchers in program history with a 2.43 career ERA. Assisting with all aspects of the program, Fearse specializes in her work with the Fords’ pitchers.

Since her graduation, two of those pitchers to ascend the program ranks have been All-Centennial Conference performers under Fearse’s guidance, Sara Tauriello and Emily Winesett. Haverford set a new program record with a team ERA of 1.86 during the 2014 Centennial Conference Championship season. To date, three of Haverford’s top four team ERAs have come in the 2013 through 2015 seasons under her watch. The lone exception to that group is Fearse’s senior season when she was part of a staff that broke the then-school record mark for team ERA.

Fearse graduated from Haverford with a Bachelor of Arts in English and secondary teaching certification. She is currently employed as a high school English teacher in Southwest Philadelphia.
